After advise from others last night (thanks alot) did the top hose test as advised by Entwood and it does appear that the thermostat is stuck open as top hose does get progressively hotter but not in pulses.Temperature gauge with A/C off just goes above 87.5 and only after running at 2000rpm on driveway moves nearer 90,but no higher.In view of the considerable work involved in replacing the stat can any body advise what detremental effect I will have other than slightly higher fuel consumption as engine is not reaching optimum temp quickly.If it is ok to drive through warmer months safely,would sooner put off the inevitable until autumn.Will this be okay ??
