The reason i ask is that i usually slowly reverse off my drive which has a 3" drop so as not to clobber the cats.
Today i was working on the car so i reversed it onto the drive and then drove forwards to drive off. Unfortunatly i drove off without thinking and before knew it i heard and felt a huge bang as lower elbow of the downpipes hit the deck :-[
What are the chances i could have sheared a manifold stud or damage the downpipe? The car seems ok but as my mind is now playing games with me i keep thinking that the engine sounds different. This is the first and only V6 i have driven so have no other car to compare it against.
I've heard that the facelift manifolds and downpipes are stronger, but how strong? strong enough to take a battering from a moronic drivere :D
Thanks in advance...

Who told you that load of rubbish ?
You might get away with it, the problem would have already shown up by now if damage had occured.

I keep clouting something when the front end drops over those small, but semi circular, speed bumps. Cats look like they are taking brunt of it.
People stare at me now when I creep slowly over that type now.

The elbow of the 2.6/3.2 downpipes is where the pre-cat is.
Not sure what would be lower though, the elbow or the main cat.

My pre-facelift has VERY loud front suspension....
basically the wishbone bushes are toally shot so when my front wheels hit something like a speed bump kerb etc even at very low speeds it makes a rather loud clang where the metal of the wishbones impacts on teh bolts that hold them up.
Are you sure you impacted your exhaust or might it have been your suspension complaining?

In my case, its the exhausts
