Title: clocks
Post by: steverubberduck on 19 July 2008, 18:32:43
Believe it or not you don't need your dashboard clocks to be working for an mot pass!!
My rev counter doesn't work, and the speedo does a mean twitch.
I bought another set of clocks off ebay, but they are not the right ones for my miggy.
The colour of the plastic on the back of the clocks is different, and it has a couple of bulbs missing.(http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm90/v6veccie/S8000710.jpg)[/img]

Surely the speedo has to be working for the MOT???

There's a couple of cheeky resistors on the top one, does the new one physically fit?

Yet another reason I think the MOT is a farce and not worth the paper it's written on! The only good thing about MOT's IMO is that it means people have to have their cars checked at least once a year! >:( >:(

There are electrical differences between pre 97 and post 98 pannels.

yes, the other clocks did fit.
but the main shock is it passed the mot, and it's not even a dodgy garage, been taking my cars there for years

They dont test the speedo on an MOT, they just take the mileage.

I think the MOT should at least test the accuracy at 30 mph on a rolling road and have it written on the MOT

Can get you a clock from a 98 onwards Omega or a 97 or before one no problem...which do you need and whats your milage so can try to pretty much match what yours shows :)

Never seen a blue backed one...is that from a Vectra??

i don't know if there is a difference or not.
i've got myself another set of clocks coming, hopefully these ones will work lol
if not i may take you up on your offer chris.
But yeah, if you get pulled by the police and they ask you how fast you were going, and you reply with "i don't know orifice? how fast was i going?", "i don't honestly know, as my speedo doesn't work"
Will that stand up in court?
As it passed an mot???
