Title: 2.5 Hunting on idle but only when the A/C is on
Post by: doz on 24 July 2008, 18:54:19
As the titles  says. I've just done the cam gasket cleaned breather and fitted new dis pack. I'm still noticing it drops on to 5 cylinders from time to time but I put this down to the state of the leads. The rubber at the plug end is completly rotten due to being submerged in oil for so long. I was wondering if this would cause the hunting issue? At normal idle with a/c off the car is fine but when you turn the a/c on and the engine goes to pick the revs up the engines starts to hunt. I disconnected the idle speed control valve and the engine dropped to a lower idle but continued to hunt until the a/c is off. I notice a little clonk from the area of the a/c compressor when it's hunting. Now this could all be down to naff leads (plugs are new) but has anybody had this issue before or heard of the issue before? The aircon appears to be working as one pipe is hot and the other cold but I can't tell from the car as the heater bypass valve has no vaccum to it at the moment and I think this is causing the heating to go funny being always just warm. Also the pulley on the a/c comp is spinning when it's turned on.

got some from euro car parts for 35 quid, cant see how
Good they can be at that price but they worked!
Also the lengths where not quite correct for the omega
As the dis pack is closer to the passenger side bank,
They did not account for this. Good in as much they where
Cheap. Cant tell you how they lasted as i sold the car!
