Title: Rear shock absorber bolt - where from?
Post by: TECHNOPUG on 21 July 2008, 15:00:02
Hi,

any idea where I can get a rear shock absorber lower bolt for a '96 3.0V6? I've replaced the old shocks with some new Bisltein units but one of the bolts has sheared upon retightening and I'm a bit stuck. Any idea if there is somewhere online that I can order one (or a set) from?

Cheers,

Andrew

OK - ordered them from a VX dealer. However, what arrived was not the right set of bolts. They were thumping great 14mm wishbone bolts with no nuts. Double checked the computer and it quotes 11098701 as the product code. This was on the bag. So they have ordered me another set and are just hoping that the wrong bolts got bagged up. Can anyone shed any light on the product code - is it correct?

Cheers,

Andrew

The dealers have so far ordered in half a dozen bolts and none of them fit! At a bit of a loss now. The bolt that came off has an M14 shaft of 60mm that tapers to an M12 thread of 30mm. It's possible that they are the correct bolts (although they do fit obviously) as it's an ex-Plod car. The quest continues I suppose - will just need to call around auto/bolt shops in London.
