my car has started cutting out over the last 2 days. i changed the crank sensor about 3 months ago i cleaned out the idle control valve. last week it broke down had to get a recovery. when i got home i done a paperclip test and that showed up 73 74. mass airflow meter. got one from the scrappy and the car seemed fine. so now its started cutting out again i done another paperclip test and the only codes it shows are (12 31) which i know about. but also 135. when its about to cut out it starts running rough and the check light lights up. help :(

can you give a bit more info? is the prob. at tick over or at speed? do the electrics play up at all.?
didnt i see this posted a couple of weeks ago? :-/

it happens at tickover and at speed have not noticed anything else apart from the check light. only the last 2 days (friday + today) so no previous thread sent. thanx

does it happen when you take your foot of the throttle when you go to brake when approaching junctions and roundabouts?

Did you clean the breather jet?? Tride this with mine with the same symptoms as yours and it sorted it.
Check for air leaks in breather system too :y

car will start and drive normal for a while and then it feels like a misfire. check light comes on and it cuts out starts again same thing maybee 3 or 4 times. i gave it a big rev yesterday and it seemed to fix it for a while (coincidence maybee) spark plugs leads dispack all new.

Worse when warm ?? Ie at a junction after being driven some miles?? Sounds familiar to what i had... or similar.

Going by the MAF faults originally - and I doubt it had failed - look for air leaks.
Is the tickover slightly eratic?

the tick over is terrible but only when this problem appears the strange thing is the car can drive (and tickover) perfectly for anything up to half an hour then start all this carry on. its a intermitant fault because it can clear its self. (and the check light will go out). im totally lost :(

Still think you have unmetered air, so double check all that.

ok so i checked everything and nowt. im going to take it to vauxhall and they can put it on tech2. i dont know if that will be able to show up more than a paperclip test but at least i get to donate £60 to a worthy cause :-?

Unless you get a good technician, and I doubt you will at dealer, you'll find they will start changing parts willy nilly

could it be a lamda sensor. would that show up as a fault on engine managment light.? :-/
