Title: Walker Exhaust
Post by: Kaycee on 27 July 2008, 08:06:59
my 3.2 auto elite is in need of an rear box and centre pipes according to the man who services it  as i had fitted a genuine exhaust from vauxhall on my old 2.5 i  thought same and asked him to investigate getting me a new one but he said that walker exhausts are just as good i said surely not but was adamant they are.
as anyone had experience of the walker system as i had a bosell on the 2.5 until i had genuine fitted and it was absolute crap

general thinking is that VX on trade club is the way to go.  they have changed their design from originl fit and I suspect are a bit noisier but still price wise on TC they are almost as cheap as walker

I did find some stuff on a well know auction site a few weeks ago that claimed to be double skinned Thyssen steel stuff and almost too cheap to be true, maybe worth a gamble?  don't know myself

Yes, the one just removed from my minifacelift was a walkers item fitted (badly) at huge cost by F1 auto centres. It lasted 18 months (tops) before the internal baffles gave up, was as noisey as hell and didn't fit to well. This was not covered by the warranty as it had no external perforations!

Repalced it with a GM one, much quieter, easy to fit and should last longer (it has on my other Omega!).

If cash is an issue, then get a cheap import off ebay but be prepared for more noise and shorter life.

Wonder why he would push walker?
Probably got one kicking around out the back.

On reflection, I wish I had made a more constructive comment, and make a more reasoned argument like Marks DTM did.  But I do get annoyed when a cheap nasty exhaust is sold as equivilent quality to the GM ones.

But I still maintain my comment was true and honest :P

I had the same thing - local fitter saying Walker back box was almost as good as the GM item that was coming off - went with what he recommended and used it for 2 years, no problems whatsoever.

as well as short & concise!  ;D  ;D  :y

Before I made a stainless system for my Senator (another dropped b0110ck for selling), I had both Walkers (middle boxes) & Bosal (back box) fitted. they lasted not much more than a year between them. the original GM system had lasted around 6 years.
