Post by: steve carter on 29 July 2008, 17:51:22
Can anyone tell me of anyone who can do the auto-box software upgrade for a 2l 16v on a 98 `R` plate, in the Bournemouth and Poole area, other than vauxhall.  Thanx

some vauxhall specialist garages that arent actuall VX stealers also have tech2s, but MDTM and TheBoy will be the best prices :y

VX will charge you the price of a new gearbox, theboy will charge you about £45 i think, aslong as yours is mini-facelift...? (solid headrests and steering wheel controls)

I paid £30 at a local Vx specialist. He told me Vx would have charged £80. Gives a super smooth gearchange on my year 2000 facelift. Worth doing

someone with more knowledge of prefacelifts and minifacelifts will be able to tell which yours is, i think it is going off the steering wheel controls

If the last letter of VIN is W, then its flashable, if its V, then its not.

I've called around dealers asking about the upgrade (as I wanted to be cheapest), and I had quotes from £45 to £300, and an awful lot of 'not possible'
