Title: Cutting Out
Post by: Big Bri on 30 July 2008, 23:42:03
I was driving along tonight and my car just cut out, after a couple minutes it started back up, after a couple of minutes of driving it cut out again, the problem keeps repeating, the man from the AA said that it could be the fuel pump as it is a common fault on these cars, what do you think?
     Thanks for your help.

Do a paperclip test and post the results... Could be many things but the most common fault on the Mig is the Crank sensor... Should give a code 19 IIRC  :y :y :y

As said, do a paperclip test first.
There is a How to, in the maintenance section ;)

The car in the picture seems a facelift; if so it doesn't support paperclip!

Hmmm... Good point, although I didn't think they fitted the 3.0 engine to the facelift.

[waits to be corrected]  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for your help, just plugged in the tech2 and got a code 19, just checked fault codes on this site and it says incorrect RPM, and I know that comes up anyway.

But it's worth it... The pattern parts are useless!!!

Just means incorrect RPM signal, that comes up anyway.

That sounds better.
Code 19 is failure of the crank sensor, eventually it wont run at all, so please replace ASAP ;)

Does if its a non DBW engine as the 3.0 is.
Body has nothing to do with it, it's the engine which dictates wether the paperclip trick works or not.
2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 can be paperclipped even if fitted into facelift models.
