i've just bought a 2.2 manual sport and after two elite models i miss the cruise control. is it possible to fit easily?
-
yep, need stalk, brake switch, clutch switch (may be fitted anyway if a manual) and a chat with a tech2
-
Should just need the stalk.......worth trying it first to see if it works without giving the stealer money for the tech2 chat :y
-
Would the cruise control unit for a v6 pre facelift work ok with a 2.2 facelift model? If you do need a control box have one here nice and cheap :)

You dont need anything apart from the stalk and to make sure the brake/clutch(if manual) switch is there......which they should be for a 2.2 and to make sure the ECU knows it got cruise fitted(hence the tech2 needed)
2.2/2.6/3.2 are drive by wire (ie electronically controlled) and hence no need for other throttle additions :y

Correct :y
Either scrappy or dealer.........from dealers about £30ish
Then about £45-50 for tech2 at dealer (if it doesnt work.....ie not already enabled)
Tho tech2 work will be cheaper if you bump into TB or MDTM :y

Mmm its very tempting .... ive seen a few stalks on flea bay from £13 used to £30 new ....i'll assume its just an easy job to sawp the stalks over :-/ ... just a pity i dont stay near anyone with the little machine :y
-
2.2 just needs stalk, and a chat with Tech2. Never come across a non CDX 2.2 with cruise enabled in ecu.

Diags > Year > Omega > Engine > Y22XE
Confirm > Comfirm.
At Menu, Programming > Program Variant
Modify, highlight Cruise Control (that will say Not Present) and press enter.
Tech2 will error at this point.
Plug Tech2 into TIS PC, and click Security Access, and follow steps to get Level 2 and Level 3 authorisation.
Plug back into car, repaet all steps above, (now when enter pressed, it will say Cruise Control Present), then press Program.
Once programmed, go to Live Data, and ensure you can see both brake switches activate, clutch switch activate (if applicable), and all 3 cruise buttons press.
Job done

I bet they aren't. When I was looking to do it on my car (53reg 2.2 CD) I called in 3 dealers, all said not possible! I even printed a thread and showed it to one, they said it might be possible but you could damage the ecu and we won't take any responsibillities. They were also looking to charge for an hour not half.
There are 2 people here with tech2 who could do it for you at a fraction of price plus they know what they're doing. I got my stalk from http://www.leavalleymotors.co.uk for £20.

Mark enabled it for me at a meet. As you're in Kent, there's another meet usually every month or couple of months in Blue Water. It's organized by vvoc.com. I think the tech2 guy there is called Mark too (check their website).

Well thats it activated and working fine :y.... but he said the indicator light on the dash to tell you cruise is on isnt working .... is there such a bulb on the CD model .... doesnt look like it to me ?
-
There is no lamp on the dash....... ;)

There is no lamp on the dash....... ;)
I didnt think so either .... of course he helpfully suggested taking the dash out to check the " bulb " , which i declined as i would imagine that would have cost a lot for nothing ;D

Others have said it BUT, if he had read the manual or been at least a bit familiar with meega and cruise control he would have know it! I guess it he had taken the dash out to find a non existant bulb he really couldn't have charged you. At least it works that's what counts in the end. Do make a mental note not to trust anything that dealer tells you...
