Title: Steering Relay Arm?

I`ve been changing the engine oil and converting my oil filter to a 'spin-on' today......whilst underneath I was looking at the steering relay (idler) arm on the near side; `just a gut feeling but, is that how it should look?....is it an optical-illusion or is it free to slide up and down on that shiny(ish) dry pivot surface?  :o

I don`t want to be a 'worry-wort'; but thought I`d run the pictures (below) passed some expert eyes! ;)

looks ok, shouldn't slide up and down, if it does, fubar

Thanks for the reassurance Jaime; I couldn`t get the arm to slide up`n down on the pivot.....`it just looked like it could. ;)

Yes, the arm is pressed onto the 'shiney part', inside the 'shiney part' is a rubber bush which acts on the inner sleeve.

If you wiggle the front wheels look for vertical movement in the end of the idler which indicates the rubber bush is past its best.
