Car drives only on get-you-home throttle (1k rpm)
Check the codes from the ECU, and I get 21 and 92.
21 = Accelerator Position Sensor Signal Voltage High
92 = Cruise Control Device Circuit Open or Voltage High
Also displays a fault on the display "Automatic Gearbox" but seems to have no problem with gearbox (gears select, no noise from 'box).
Codes from ECU seem to relate to lack of throttle.
And so how do I move on to fixing it?
Thanks,
Tom

I can't even rev the engine in Park before the message "Automatic Gearbox" appears on the screen
Is there an interlock between the gearbox and engine ECU that will prevent me from revving the engine if the gearbox is unhappy?
So does this mean that I "only" have a gearbox problem and the other codes will go away once the gearbox is happy again?

Is this your diesel or petrol? Would help to know. If petrol then I'd disconnect the cruise multiplug - eliminate that unit unit the fault is found.
My 'guess' is that the autobox is putting the engine into limp to protect the 'box. not sure how you have read the fault codes but, I don't think the paperclip test will cover the autobox ecu. Maybe needs a chat with a code reader. I must admit to not being knowladgeable with autos - I have three pedals....

Oops, so busy trying to get the specifics down, I didn't identify that this is on the Diesel. Changed title of thread to identify.
It also has a cruise control, so the similar multi-plug option would apply. But how is cruise control relevant on a lack of response, since upwards throttle (faster) is allowed when the cruise is engaged?
The fault codes I read are from the paperclip test, and I have decoded the numbers using the engine ECU table, so I have not expected the box controller to be involved. I suppose it would be useful if the codes of the ECU could flag that there is a limiting function engaged from another controller...
As a thought from another thread, how is the interlink between the box ecu and the engine ecu done? If the wire breaks, does the safe mode get engaged? The previous owner had trouble with the ECU, so the state of the harness might be suspect.
I may raise a separate question on that communication and the display showing the "Automatic Gearbox" message.

Is the wiring on the throttle pedal ok, no damage?
The deal would be to look at the live throttle position data with tech 2

it has cruise, yet showing 92? is right cruise stalk fitted?

Hmm.
Don't think any tinkering has been done with the wiring, etc, since it was working.
It has the stalk for a cruise control, and hence seems approriate to be showing code 92.
But I haven't got it to enagage; didn't try when doing about 30 in town.
My response was biased that the cruise (if faulty) would not be keeping my revs down, as it provides a minimum, not a maximum speed.

OK, we have threads scattered about all over the forum about this issue, let just keep it to this one.
Do you have any throttle response when not in gear - I suspect not?

You are right; I get no throttle response even when not in gear.

Look at why that tps is throwing a code then :)

thrpttle pedal system does sometimes go down only cure is another one!! but it could also be in the pump !! if its the pump itself diesle magic trick may have some effect?

Diesel Magic trick? OK, searched out the description for that. Neat (sic) trick!
I get the impression that the engine is running robustly, and the 1k rpm does not vary with temperature (over about 30 minutes running), so don't imediately think anything is jammed.
I shall get "down and dirty" with the TPS tomorrow. Still waiting for the Haynes, which will presumably not help.... Can you point me towards the sensor? Inside car or under bonnet?

sensor is at the top of pedal fella :y
