Title: Stainless exhaust
Post by: Ralph on 29 July 2008, 16:05:18
Hi,
My exhaust has started leaking just in front of the rear box, it looks like both of the mid sections & rear box will need to be replaced.
I've seen ads for Powerflow custom stainless exhausts which look pretty good has anyone any experience of these or any other reccomendations,

Thanks

Thanks Mark,

What sort of cost was it (ballpark figure would do, I don't want to be ripped off).

Whereabouts in meetings, there's quite a few posts in there ?

Cheers

Had a couple of quotes today, Vx dealer £453.

Kwikfit £400, they think it may need the cats replacing as they doubt they can seperate them, cost goes to £1320 :o

Local Powerflow dealer £600 app, tried a different powerflow dealer they quoted £280 which I suspect is an error.

I got mine fitted for £320 for my custom cat-back.

That was from Infinity Exhausts in Yate.

Having had many past infamous dealings with Kwik Fittup, they are probably right that they will not be able to separate the cats from the exhaust. ::) ::) ........ They are so incompetent and heavy handed that they are gauranteed to bollxxks them up and a lot more besides! >:( >:(

That's if they can fit the right exhaust (which they didn't on my son's car) or, if touching the front manifold down pipe, completely knacker the stud bolts (as they did on one of my Carlton's), and fit the mounting straps correctly to avoid the exhaust half falling off (which they didn't do on the last car I ever trusted them with).

Then there was the scatched alloys........oh God I'm ranting again about that bloody company!! ;D ;D :D ;)

Please go anywhere but Kwik Fittup!! 8-) 8-)

Well bit the bullet & had the Powerflow cat-back exhaust fitted today.
A very reasonable £320 + VAT compared with the other quotes I got.

Car seemed more responsive on the 30 mile home journey, not excessivley noisey & the instant consumption reading seemed to be above 30 more than it usually is. Time will tell.
Would reccomend the system.

It depends on if you want a sports exhaust (no centre silencers) but I think they were about £350. If your having one let me know, ive got a telephone number and we might get a discount ;)

Im still going to Tatton :y

Hmmm, any thoughts on noise and power differances on any of these?

The JP system sounds standard with the centre boxes and there won't be much of a power increase as its the manifolds which are restrictive.
