Was out on a mission yesterday and just after a kickdown overtake i noticed 'coolant level' on the MID, pulled into destination a min later to find steam pouring from the bonnet :o
Popped the bonnet to find the water hose between rh side of block and top of rad had blown a big f.o. hole :-/
luckily there was a building site next door and a really helpful Polish guy got me some duct tape and a bucket of water so i could limp home.
He said to me that it might be HG pressurising the coolant system (he was very switched on) but there have been no signs so far and i've run through the (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1209123016 ) flow chart and i'm not convinced.
Anyone else had trouble with this hose (split on short run from block just before bend up) i guess they can just split with fatigue (11 years old)?
And where's the best place to get a NEW replacement i cant find them on the AutoVaux site?
thanks in advance :y

MIne split after the head gasket went.
I got a replacement from Vauxhall, on the TC card it wasn't too expensive. I'll try and find receipt.

Replace the hose, run up to temperature removing all airlocks - and monitor carefully for excess pressure.
Also look for signs of fuel smell in header tank etc.

v6 HGs virtually never fail like that, so replace hose and see what happens...

i thought as much but just wanted to get a few opinions :y
ps hose part no is GM90572935

is it poss its had oil spilt on it from a fill up, or similar and its
Eaten the rubber over time?

I think mine went after the head gasket failed.

it is directly below the filler if oil can do that?
-
another question -
hose is fitted with standard awkward to remove squeeze together clips, any objections to refitting with a good old jubilee clip? ::)

Yes. Keep to std clips.
The spring clips, as well as allowing quicker production, also allow expansion/contraction with heat, always being at the right tension. Jubilee clips do not allow this.

Depends on the rubber. Obviously oil seals are
designed to seal oil so not in that case, but are the water
hoses Designed to deal with oil? Suspect not?

Hi,
I think it likely your hose failed with all the previous twisting and pulling to get it off the transfer pipe if at any time there has been a thermostat replacement.
Other than that just sods law.
With regard to hose clip replacement with a jubilee type clip.
As it is tightening onto a metal pipe, I see no problem. I used a jubilee clip on mine.
It is when the hose pillar you are fitting the hose to is made of plastic, ie radiator and HBV connections etc, that jubilee clips are a NO NO

Retail was £16.90 + VAT.
I paid £11.04 + VAT

saw an oil breather pipe on a 99 2.0 4pot the other
Day. More like plastercine than rubber.

If you have nothing else then a jubilee will suffice, but do not overtighten it!
As TB says, better to use the gen clips if you have them.

Thanks to TMX for going to local GM dealer and sorting a new hose and some antifreeze on his Trade Card :y :y :y :y :y :y :y :y
next question ::) i've refitted hose and topped up water and stuck some rad flush in which i'm gonna run in it tommorow and then check no leaks tomorrow night before flushing out a couple of times and then filling (50/50) with antifreeze.
Any way of cleaning up the washer bottle so it doesn't look so dirty yellow and you can see the nice fresh red antifreeze??? :-/

Just been out to check fro leaks and the connection to the block which i replaced with a jubilee is dry as a bone ;) but the top join to the rad with a standard GM spring clip is just weeping ::)

How much water stays in the block unless you take the water pump out??? ::)
Reason i ask is finished flushing system tonight then filled up with antifreeze.
My plan was to flush through with loads of water, run engine flush with water run engine etc so that only water in system then add neat antifreeze 4.75 litres to give 50/50 mix in a 9.5 litre system.
Prob is when i put 4.75 litres of antifreeze in there were no room for water ::)
I know a lot is held in the block unless you remove water pump but really that much??? :o
