About 2 months ago I replaced the Heater Bypass Valve on my 1999 3.0 Elite estate. I have now got another leak from a split in the hose going from the bypass valve to the engine Block/Head ??. It looks a swine to get at the clip on the engine side. Any hints??? I've already taken off the wipers and scuttle and wiper motor assembly. Is it worth replacing all 3 hoses whilst stripped down to this level. The other two going to the heater matrix look to have special connectors on the heater end. Is there any chance of damage to the matrix trying to remove these??

If the hoses are mullered then might as well do them... if ok then leave them. The HBV is a boogar to get at. Best to do what needs doing whilst in there :y

Easiest way to get to the hoses onto the coolant bridge is to take the plenum, injectors and flange off. Also gives you a good chance to look at the oil cooler thermostat etc. The matrix connectors need the end of the 'catch' pressing with a thumb nail then pulling the whole collar back to release the hose.

Thanks for replies. If I take off plenum etc., do I need a load of new seals. I seem to remember doing this on a previous Omega I owned and they were costly!!

never bothered myself but if they look compressed and hard like they will not recover the shape then yes. Plenum off helps most jobs on the mig.

does anyone know the part nos for these so I can order online. Local dealer would need to order and total cost £73.
