Title: why is my exaust so noisy
Post by: Richie London on 25 August 2008, 15:43:05
have had a look underneath, cant see any holes anywhere but its starting to sound like a loud diesel car. they have put a speed ramp in the pub car park and its not an ordinary bump, it must be a half circle shape, about a ft wide and 5 inches high, i did wack the cats as i went over it, and that was real slow too.

could i have done some damge as to make the exaust so loud now???

Sounds (scause the pun! :D) like it!   All it needs is a small weakness in the pipework or boxes, and this will cause a fracture / leak that may by almost invisable. :'(

Put the car on a ramp / jack it up and pass your hand over the exhaust from the engine end back and no doubt you will find the hole!! ;)

there seems to be a lot of heat rises from under my door, can feel it with my arm on window edge.

I often notice that myself with my (new) exhaust, but excess heat would be another clue to indicate hot gases escaping from the exhaust / cats. ;)

Worth checking that area in particular as stated before.  A join at least could have parted :-/

I get the same on mine, stood in traffic, suntanning the right arm etc, but with 2 pipes travelling under a car with a V6 lump in it and no air flow under the car then I would expect the heat.

Start it up and get some to keep holding a rag over the end of the exhaust then listen to see where it blows. :y

EGR Bypass pipe ?
