I've carried out a pressure test on my 98 2.0 this morning and got the following results.
Cylinder 1: 15.5 Bar (Front of Engine)
Cylinder 2: 16 Bar
Cylinder 3: 14.8 Bar
Cylinder 4: 15.8 Bar (Rear of Engine)
Can anyone tell me what they are supposed to be. I carried it out after heating up th eengine to normal running temp and aloud approx 10 secs of turnover per test.

not sure what it should measure but i would imagine they should be a bit closer in tolerance than that, they look a bit to varied.
Someone will be along with the info no doubt. How may miles has it done?

do you mean youve done a compression test?, if so they rarely read the same from pot to pot, no3 is down a little but nothing to be concerned about, i dont know what they are supposed to be but as they are fairly even i wouldnt worry unless you are having running problems.

Just looked at Haynes manual and compression should be 12 to 15 bar
with a maximum of 1 bar difference

Yes, I mean compression test ::). I am having running issues but I dont think this is related as it eventually brough a code up on the eml last night for a faulty mass air flow sensor. It appears to be extremly sluggish and then picks up as it gets to about 2500-3000 revs.
Guessing that if its breathing not right then I would have thought this would cause it.

all i know about 2.0 is they suffer from blocked breathes and tick over systems, cam sensors play up but can be cleaned, no other codes from paperclip test? Try unplugging the maf, if it runs better, but not quite right, maybe maf?

Which code?
Generally a failing MAF does not cause major running issues but, an air leak would.
As a simple test, unplug the MAF to force the ECU into limp home mode.

Code that is coming up is 0100 Maf Sensor. Saying that though its been running all day today and the eml has not been on, but it still appears to be slow off the mark and then all of a sudden picks up. Plus it keeps stalling on occasions. Breathers were all cleaned recently along with small bore pipe so not sure.
