Hi TB
Question :
Would tech2 when used to test gearbox ecu, provide suffcient power to energise the solonoids. Or does it provide a switching voltage, which it then tracks.
Or
The ignition needs to be on, and or the engine running. Your reply would save the trawl of the book of lies.

AFAIK the ignition needs to be on for all Tech2 type work.

Tech 2 sends software commands to the ECU and gets it to actuate the various solenoids....hence it needs the ignition on in order to power up the ECU(s).
-
Exactly as M_DTM says above - Tech2 only talks to ECUs, it asks the ECU to perform its request.

Thanks boys now will tec2 read tec1 ecu 1995.

Should read 1995 omega gearbox ecu, as same ecu still used up to 1997

Cheers TB would you happen to have the box ecu codes.

Cheers TB would you happen to have the box ecu codes.
What? Designations, or fault codes?

been looking for the codes/voltages for the box ecu I think they are designated as P codes. Unfortunately most of the info on these boxes seem to come from thier use on other cars. But do not know if, they by default use the same ecu's. or that they are manufature specific ecu's.

I have the DTC details in TIS, but not easy to get out in an electronic format...

Hi TB.
Ok I will get TIS and check it out, searching the web landed me with a load of Trojans yesterday, all cleared now being IE and I dont even use it.
