Hi guys, where should I source an exhaust for a '99 2.5 TD and what should I be paying for one? New or second hand?
so far been advised that exhaust centre sections have split and are corroded - £194 quoted - is this too much?
thanks Jonny.

Hi Johnny Screwloose. A warm welcome to you.
I dont have a Tractor(affectionate term on here) but the stock answer for a petrol is get a trade club card or access to one via another member, and get one from a vx dealer. Said to offer the best value. But wait for a fellow TD owner to confirm this also applys to you. Sure they will be along soon. Some very knowledgable people on here. Pays to hang around. :y

Join AutobarnStormers Johnny for £20 to get a trade card:
www.autobahnstormers.co.uk
and you will quickly gain that £20 back by buying a genuine Vx exhaust / parts which, as already stated, does seem the best option unless you are thinking of a "specialist" exhaust that some go for now. :D :y

thanks for the advice so far guys! :y

should be about £100 for centre &back box parts only retail from a parts palce that £94 fitting for a 30 min job max.
centre pipe always split about 10cm before back box. might be able to just change centre which is £60 part only

I too have a Traktor & my exhaust (from Cat backwards) came from Germany for £57 via e-Bay
It was not genuine VX, but £20 to have it fitted at the garage around the corner was a significant saving
It is said by the members of the forum that VX are quieter, but since we have Diesels which are inherrently noisier cars anyway it does not really seem important. Mine is not excessively noisy.
I also believe that a Diesel produces less corrosive exhaust emissions than a petrol engine, so concerns over longevity may not be relevant either.

I paid 200 for supply fit two back boxes fast fit/equiv.
Dont think it's a TC item.

centre and back sections are TC items, from memory (coz my book is downstairs!) its around £160 + VAT for parts.
I would stick genuine on at that price, knowing its likely you'll never have to do it again (which its likely pattern will last 2 - 4yrs)
