Went to VX dealer in Portsmouth last week and they knocked me back £70 for a genuine battery for my 1998  3ltr saloon. Tried Halfords and a few other local motor factors first but no one could do a decent battery for a better price than VX.

May seem a bit expensive but worth it.

Halfrauds also want £70+ for the bigger variety.
Not sure if a Trade Card is any good for Batteries? A few others on here will know for sure.

Trade club is deffo worth looking at. I had to replace one recently. Went for an alternative in the end as my trade club status was still being set up with my dealer. Think that due to massive rises in raw materials to make them the days of the cheapo battery are over (unless its tish that is).  8-)

There has been a recent small price rise on all TC items (and trade price, and retail), so yellow book and online slightly out of date.

A significant (10% ish) rise in oil about 2 months ago.

Decided to go to the local Vx dealer in Bradford for a new battery took the part no for the 74amp model 093189922...they reckon that now the recommended battery for the 3.0 elite is the ..93189923  65amph model says they don't stock the others any more ? so ended up buying the 65amp model comes out at TC price £53!!
Must admit that is what is on my car at the moment .
They do seem fine for anyone using the TC card there a long list of prices for the TC members already printed on the parts dept wall eg.. timing belt kit £98+vat..
