Title: idleing and stalling probs?
Post by: lee1983 on 01 September 2008, 21:30:08
hi , today i have purchased my first omega and im over the moon with the quality and comfort of it the cars a 1996 (P) 2.0 auto and it wont idle just keeps stalling when i take my foot off the accelarator pedal and when it is running there is a small amount of black smoke from the exhaust , it's also very slow when first pulling off and im not sure whether this is due to the stalling and rough running or a prob with the gearbox but when it does get off the line it runs and drives perfect , any ideas would be great.

Thanx in advance

The first thing I'd want to be doing in this situation is checking out the fault codes. See paperclip test in the maintenance section :)

Clean ICV?

That's where my money would go! But as James said... Do a paperclip test first to check for fault codes? :y :y :y :y

hi Lee, welcome to the forum.
4 pots suffer from blocked breathers, and throttle body. Also crank sensor, clean all 3, if cleaning does not help maybe buy a genuine vx sensor. I dont own one so get some other opinions. Guides in the maintenance section. Plenty of 4 pot owners on here, bit late now but theyll be along.
Paper clip test too.
