A lad at work is considering buying a 4 pot 2.0 and asked me about fuel consumption. :-?
Any pointers at to what they do 'around town' please?
TIA
-
Is it auto or manual? I bet that makes a huge difference on a 2.0.

:-/ I never thought to ask - it was at 6 this morning & I was only awake in body ..... not yet in mind ;), but as he didn't specify one or t'other I'd guess it's a manual he's looking at.
-
I would think if it was auto it should get around 26mpg around town, and should achieve around 35-38 on a run, I get similar with a 2.2 petrol auto.
-
Does nobody do a rough 'around town' mpg of their 2.0 Omegas? :-? :-?
-
on my 9 mile commute, spanking the nuts off it get about 26mpg, 35 on a run.
Its very similar to 2.5 V6 economy...

And therefore not a huge step from the 3.0 economy either :D :D

Thanks Tunnie. But it's a 2.0 my mate is considering buying. :y

But you've to drive a 3.0 like saint to get those figures. Diven like a hooligan you don't! ;)

2.2 is the same as 2.0 ...

I know! ;)
I thought your reference to a 2.5 suggested he be better of with the V6 ;) :y

i get 35 in city and 44 in motorway
it s all depend on what kind of the driver you are
you dont have to drive slow for low MPG
good tyer-know about ur car-know ur break- CLEAN batterfly valve ...
and the bigest key to low MPG is full synth oil from mobile1 which cost
£46 in birmingham
((( all i said is my experience im nt warranty anything))

Thanks for the replies.

My 2.2 does a healthy 15mpg around town on lpg ;D
So if it were on petrol probably around 18mpg :y
It is auto tho ;)
-
I used to get about 27mpg average running about and 35 on a motorway run. This was on a 2.0 auto saloon.

Bl00dy Hell! :o You'd be aswell with another couple of pots under the bonnet, your consumption wouldn't be any worse! :y
-
God i starting to get jealous at the moment my 2.0 is doing about 10 mpg. But i ony do about 2miles to work and 2miles home(yes i know i'm a lasy git) so it doesnt get chance to get off cold running. On the plus side it will do 450 miles to a tank on a long run.
-
mines all over the place lol so i wouldnt have a clue
think the computer is a bit slow :o
-
My erstwhile '99 2.0 GLS Auto saloon managed around 25mpg locally.
Cross-country motorway driving was around 33-35 mpg.
Towing our caravan generally, I was down to 22mpg.
This was a well-maintained car and sensibly-driven.

My 3.2 has only ever returned down to about 18MPG on LPG, and that was mostly urban running about.

Between 40-42 mpg combined town and A-road work and 50-52mpg on M/way (Cruise control set at 75mph).
It is a 2.5td Tractor tho ! ;)
-
Tank after tank, mine does 30mpg. Rises to 32-33 on a run, but low 20's on a run. I do have a 35 mile run to work, though, about 50% "A" roads.
If it was a manual, i'd probably be about 35mpg - but i like my lazy auto!
-
2.2 auto
high teens pottering about
low 30's on steady run
-
Mmmm ... mid 20's pottering around but have had 38 ish on a long motorway run ... cruise set at 70 mph :-/
-
Listening to all the replies I'm surprised that the 2.0 aren't better than they are. I appreciate than an Omega is a heavy car, but the mpg figures quoted justify me owning a 3.0! ;) :y
-
sound u all have a very heavy foot
im happy with my 2L . i even mange to get 30 mpg in city with 740i...
i think u guys would have 9 mpg with 740
i dont bleam you i love power full engine i can understand that feeling

we only live 2 day
