Hi,
Can any one help,
I have a problem with cold starting my omega.
Its a 2.2 CD Auto, 02-51 with 71k, FSH.
It does turn over and start, but runs rough, pops and splutters, touch the throttle, and it will stall.
It lasts for about 10-15 seconds with no throttle, after which it settles and runs fine.
On immediate restart, everything is fine, and no problems all day, until overnight stand, and then same again.
It did once put the engine EML on, it code read as misfire on cylinder 3, so I changed the plugs and cleared it, no difference.
I have also tried an alternative air flow meter, again, no luck, it was from another car though, but it worked fine on that.
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Paul

Getting the engine management codes read may prove useful before changing parts.
If it comes back with a 0340 or 0335, use genuine GM sensors, as pattern seem to be troublesome.

Hi,
At present, no codes are present on my Snap on colour graph scanner, only ever got an error the once which was the misfire error which I cleared.
Are these scanners any good for this type of fault?
-
good enough.
if it can do live data, see if throttle position matches throttle pedal position.
Also clean throttle body and breathers (guide in Maintence guides section).

£2000 seems a tad expensive for a 2002 2.2CD.
Like the look of the 2002 Beemer 330Ci - outside my price range though!
-
Throttle posistion was showing 3% from memory.
-
Its yours for £1800! (the Omega that is)

theoritically something disturbing air fuel ratio when throttle is open..
either too much air or not enough fuel..or ECU is mislead by a sensor (I dont think this is the case) :-/

I mean if they match over rev range etc.

Got 2 Elites already + TR4A - can't justify any more ;)

I'm think it might be a sensor, by the way it settles on its own after about 15 secs.

What is the live data read on the CTS?
-
Also, any can bus errors on the gearbox?

Sorry for the delay in getting back on,
I've tried running the car, and did a 150 mile trip today, EML came on and code read P0170 Fuel Trim, apart from the obvious starting problems, the car runs perfectly, the light came on after about 120 miles.
Before I left I did try some injector cleaner to see if that helps.
Does this shed any light?
Thanks,
Paul

OK, sounds like its unhappy that amount of fuel trim is probably impossible, going by other sensors.
Check for air leaks, and clean TB and breathers if not done already...

Thanks for all your help guys.
I took it to a Vauxhall specialist who changed the airflow meter, even though this had already been substitued, it cured it instantly!
Glad to say it's now sold and gone.
All the best,
Paul
