hi guys ive just been told that removing this setup on a v6 and having a box like a mantzel or somthing instead will gain alot of power? any views on this?
car in question is a facelift 3.0 v6

IMHO it won't make a scoobies worth of difference ... and may even lose power !!
The air box is huge and presents no restriction - providing the flter is changed correctly - and the inlet is placed to collect oodles of COLD air.
Stick a manzel on and you'll collect warm air from the engine bay ... warm means less power !!
I'm sure an "expert" will pass by and prove me wrong .. but thats the way I think it works .. :(

Thanks for the reply thats the way i saw it too, but was worth hearing someone elses view on it , the standard setup at the min is a strange one but must have been designed like that for a reason.

If you do a search on OOF for mantzel you may see previous threads regarding this. ;)

Who told you that then? There is a rolling road day in meeting section. Bring both set ups and see which one wins. Ill have a pound on the stock set up. Only a pound mind.
