Title: Miss fire
Post by: iainb on 08 September 2008, 14:03:47
Changed HBV found evedence of a water leak so I was happy. During my test drive it started missing below 2000 prm and poured water out again, although there is pressure in the expansion tank. Add to that the mil light is on all the time and I think the cats are burning up (strong smell )
Any ideas ?

Smell could be coolant leaking onto the cats

Can you paperclip test, and post up the fault codes?

Where is the new leak, if you've replaced HBV? Is it over pressuring?

If HBV was leaking beforehand, it could have killed DIS pack, or drenched the 1-3-5 plug leads... resulting in misfires.

12 means nothing, it just tells you it's starting to flash out codes.

31 is normal without the engine running - don't worry about it in the slightest.

32 is  Injector Valve 6 Voltage High

33 is  Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Voltage Low

I would start by giving the EGR valve a good clean out. Mark recommends paint thinners, from memory.

See what happens after that.

It helps to have a cheapo Tech2 to clear the codes, to see which are non - present..
