Title: Smoking!
Post by: chrisdb on 13 September 2008, 17:14:02
Hi guys

Thanks for all your help and advise with my exhaust manifold gasket. I had a lot of problems, especially trying to get the cat coupled to manifold, but I've just got finished now and defiantely sorted it.

However, I'm getting wafts of smoke, not dark, cut constant and it looks like it's coming from somewhere near or around the manifold. I thought that it might be the copper grease I put on all the exhaust fittings but I've let the engine idle for about 5 minutes and then drove it for 5 minutes and it's still smoking.

I would take it for a longer drive but I'm a bit worried. Any ideas?

Cheers
Chris

Lol, it takes quite a while for the greasy finger prints on the manifold and copper slip to burn off......

 :)

Thanks mate (big sigh of relief!!) Btw, do you remember thinking there was a leak somewhere - well there sure was - one of the pipes that go to plenum had a big split that was not visible until I took it off.

I'll go for a nice long run I think  :)

Cheers
