Hi everyone...got an issue with my omega‘s brakes.
Under light braking my brakes are fine but when under heavy braking the pedal goes hard and there is not a lot of stopping power, I’ve done the vacuum test and the pedal does sink but not too quickly, when you start the car in the morning and press the brakes the vacuum can be heard and then there is like a moaning sound that comes from the servo. I can’t find any leaks in the vacuum pipes, I will be changing the brake fluid in the week, does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing this problem.
Thanks

it sounds to me like either a dodgey servo or perhaps the non return valve sticking, the moaning sound does sound like a piece of rubber oscillating & creating the noise,is the rubber seal o,k where the vacuum pipe goes into the servo?,[ i take it they have one] either way it sounds like a loss of vacuum to me.

Thanks for the reply, we've tested the one way valve and it seems dodgy so I am going to buy a new one in the week to see if that makes a difference.

That sounds more like brake fad to me more than a problem with the servo, are the pads gen vx or aftermarket pattern pads as this could be a cause to poor performance. Omegas are very heavy and need quality pads to stop over 1 1/2 tons of metal. :y try changing the pads and fluid as a first move.

i was taking it as when the brake pedal seems hard but little brake its the same as trying to brake without the engine running if you get my drift, very awkward without feeling it for yourself, & the noise sounds like the servo leaking vacuum, but as you rightly say SIR after market pads wouldnt help either.
