Hi People. Newbie here. My car seems to be running very warm. The car does not seem to be losing water but the fan comes on after only a few minutes of standing still. The temperature quickly hits 100 degrees on the temp gauge before falling back
The main Vauxhall dealer have told me that the system has been flushed several times already and that these types of cars always run warm.
It has had a new genuine part heater matrix, water pump and thermostat but the problem remains.
Any ideas or is this normal?

V6s should run around 95șC normally and up to around 98șC in hot weather/traffic queues when fans should kick in.

Agree with 'dbug', suggest bleed coolant system of any air lock, also check which fans are working at what temperture and at what speed (all three fan can run at low and high speed).

Also, check the fuses in the ECU box under the bonnet.....nice quick easy one to rule out!

Quick query. If the fan is okay how will checking the fuse help? Note, I am not technically minded!

Are all fans working?

Do you use the ECO button? This button switches off the 2 aircon fans in front of the rad and the compressor, so you only have the big cooling fan behind the radiator, which will cut in when your gauge shows just under 100. With ECO mode on the car will therefore heat up more quickly. I only use ECO on the motorway, I really don't like how fast that gauge heads for the hills in traffic without the aircon fans!
I would say if the gauge goes back down to halfway once the fans come on and you're not losing any coolant there's probably nothing to worry about.

There are 3 fans involved in cooling the V6......

Yup, I generally have the ECO button on to save fuel. I'm not really sure how much it saves though. Thanks also for the other entries in relation to fans. They all seem to be working.
Someone at the main dealer suggested that the erratic reading might be, in part be down to a 2.5v6 thermostat that may have been incorrectly fitted to the 3.0l and that this can cause problems. Would that make much difference?

Ow joy.....the two parts are the same, same shape, same Vx part number, same operation etc etc etc ;D

Coolant flush n' replenish first, could just be sh1te in the very narrow veins in the radiator matrix, are you getting hot heaters?

YOU are not alone but i'm learning >>>>>>did have cooling probs some time back was loseing coolant after say 150miles having to put a litre in ,anyway all i did was change the coolant , might well have been an airlock in mine as someone else as suggested,didnt look mucky butmay have dislodged some crude ?? Now several hundred miles later had to put none in & have checked it to see if it was still at right level
