think the rads were the same across the years.

Only difference i know of (V6 Rads) is the Autos had a oil cooler built onto the rad.

The TD's had different rads, not sure if an oil cooler is built onto them   :-/

Yep - spot on .... !

I changed mine for £156 ..... and it was a genuine Valeo rad with next day delivery from my local supplier.
Some robbers wanted as much as £300, Vx quoted around £280, so there must be a good profit margin on them.

know very little about tds but why would a td rad be differant to a petrol? I had presumed, and i dont like to assume, it is the mother of all opps ups, that the only diff would be additions of condensor for ac and oil cooler for auto box. So a manual with no ac would just have just a rad? I ask for my my own education rather than to contradict. If see what i mean.

Hey Sethsmate where did you get the rad?
How long ago was that?
IIRC you said it didn't cure your hot running completely.

The rad has oil cooler built in plus two sensor holes plus 4 water holes ,two for engine & two for some weird electric pump which comes on with the electri fans.
condenser is separate at front.

Diesels need much higher cooling capacity, hence rather great rads :)

To OP, before spending a fortune on rads, unless you have already found serious cold spots, look at the piston cooling jets, which block if car has been poorly serviced (ie, not followed the 4.5k miles MAX oil change inteval!)

Thought so.... so if he buys a second hand rad, it must be from an auto.

The rads are the same as V6 basically? Just TD ones are bigger?

Bigger, and the water inlets/outlets different.

Hey TB , you put a new rad in didn't you . How much?

Yes I have cold spots in top half. I can keep my hand on it while dash reads 97-100.

Mine was £234 from a Vx dealer.  Got fed up being pissed around by gay ebay sellers, and companies on net who offer cheap prices for items supposedly in stock, then cancelling order a few days later saying they can't obtain one.

My rad did NOT cure my issue, in fact my old rad lives on in an ABS member's tractor.

With the history of yours, I would try a decent oil flush first - a decent flush is only £15 or so (plus new oil and filter - but these are regular items anyway)...

With what do you recommend flushing it with?

Problem solved   .Fitted new rad. Gbp 180 delphi. now sits at 92 never went higher than 95 cruising up & down slight clines at 80.
I tow a wakeboard boat , but not often & we dont have welsh valleys over here, so I guess the prob is sorted. BTW I put the viscous back on even tho it just feathers around not doing much.
Cheers.
Owen.

Next chalenge is Ar35 in shed & bose, but life is too short if it's not broken.
