Title: Climate control problem
Post by: megger-omega on 20 September 2008, 00:52:32
Hi,

I've got a '99 2.5V6 CDX estate that has a problem with the climate control. Basically it just gets colder and colder. i.e I can set 20 deg. on the display and once it reaches it the fan slows down, as it should, but then it gradually increases again. The colder it gets in the car, the faster the fan runs. I've actually had it so ice crystals form on the inside of the windscreen and you can see the condensation in your breath.

If I set the controls to "HI" i.e hot. Then it will get hot as expected. Its just when running in auto that things get a bit chilly.

Any ideas anyone ?

Sounds like the sampler fan is playing up or not working. It is behind the small grille in the center of the 4 dials on the wooden panel.
Try a short blow of compressed air as may just be stuck or blocked with fluff. If no good expect electrical bits behind are knackered...cheapest option is just to replace the little fan..there is a how to in the guide somewhere...otherwise just buy a replacement electronic digital climate panel from a breaker and hope that works better..VX want a second mortgage for a new one.

For prefacelifts, the saloon and estate versions run different software configs.
