Title: Outside Air Temperature incorrect
Post by: RichardH on 20 September 2008, 12:17:39
Hi,

Got into the car thursday morning to see that global warming had hit overnight and it was now 66 degrees celcius in Ireland!  Anyway, this happened in my previous facelift car so I knew it was the temperature sensor gone kaput.

Got one yesterday from the dealer and fitted it, but the temperature as still up around 55.  Thought it might take overnight to recalibrate but I checked it again this morning and it was 54 degrees.  I went for a short drive to see if that would wake it up but it's still reading very high.

I know I might just have gotten a duff sensor from Vauxhall, but is there anything else I can check first?  If there was a broken wire or something, what would the temperature default to?  I disconnected the sensor completely and the MID was reading 55.

Thanks for your help!

Richard

Check the wire to the sensor, seen them damaged around the bumper area before (i.e. Bob Dent)

Thanks Mark,

Went out to check again, and had a look at all the wires that I could see and all seemed ok.  So after checking the wires I checked the MID again and now it seems to be working fine.  So I aint touching it again!
