after a full drain down, how much atf is needed to fill up the 2.5 4 speed auto box?

6-7 Litres, depending how much you get out of the TC

I put just over 7 litros in mine. That was gearbox empty, very very little left in the torque converter. It will be less if you have just taken both sumps off with gearbox still in the car.
There was of course quite a bit left in the oil cooler pipes and cooler itself despite some coming out when you disconnect and then reconnect "crossed over".
I think I read somewhere that the grand total is 8.4 litros from dry.

Thanks guys :y |Do i need to replace any gaskets if I drain it down fully?

As there isn't a drain plug thoughtfully provided you need to take a sump or two off to change the oil. Be prepared for some mess and have a receptacle to hand to catch the old oil!
For a standard change of fluid with or without the internal filter change you ideally need two gaskets. One for the smaller sump at the front and one for the larger sump at the back. You can get them mail order from a variety of places like JPat.
If you cannot get them then you could clean the surfaces and make a gasket with a suitable tube of goo.
