Title: Strange Messages/Error Lights....
Post by: MutantCav on 25 September 2008, 18:26:21
Not strange as such but why they suddenly appeared seems strange...

Right...story so far...(98 3.0 v6 elite estate) fixed the failed ABS/TC ECU...started car up alls well, no lights no messages, drove car up road speedo is fine...

So change the header tank as the coolant level sensor is not working...started up the car, battery hadnt been tightened up...tighten it up...alls well, no lights no messages...set codes on stereo and cd changer...tune in radio 1...turn off engine

Go out to pop to shops for rice...car starts but suddenly I have the airbag light on and a low fld/vision message...did notice earlier when unlucky alf was here that the drivers side headlight made a noise (like it adjusting the headlight height)...just think its odd that both of these have come on together...could it be an earthing issue or should I be looking at sorting out the sudden 2 problems that appeared together and hadnt appeared in any of the previous engine startups???

Worth checking batt voltage, but sounds like you have a headlight prob (servo noise).  If you have access to code reader, see why airbag is on.

hi m8 could the loose battery have caused a short in the 2 circuits and the noise from headlight was it moving to the lowest setting so as not to blind oncoming traffic i just check the wishbone just incase the level has poped off

Sorry slight confusion, the noise from the headlight was earlier in the day...but thought it was worth mentioning as could be related...or maybe not...

I have spare pretty much anything including HID headlights so will have to see what I can do with swapping them and see if it fixes it.. and yep will check the sensors too :)

Suppose battery could have run a bit low too from numerous starts to check out how the work went etc...
