I believe that the Mv6 shocks are a bit shorter than the Elite ones, hence the Mv6 sits a little lower.

MV6 shocks are the uprated bit of an MV6 over the rest of the Omega range suspension wise...

I think it's spring rates on the front and rear, plus the shorter rear dampers and the 17"'s give a slightly lower ride.

Pre-facelift MV6 - its the shocks ONLY that lower the rear. Springs are the same throughout the range.

Just found a broken drivers side rear spring on my
3.2 elite, and its worse than i first thought as the whole bottom coil near the centre has gone, the back end feels wayward, and i have to put it down to the spring as i have just had 4tires 2 new dampers with self leveling, and a wim set up.

So question is, what springs? Can i fit Mv6 springs and lower the ride hight on the air suspension(some how) i presume this may bottom out sooner though?
Since replacing the rear dampers the fronts now feel softer, so if the rear will work with Mv6 springs and stock sl dampers, i will go with mv6 all round. If that maker sense. Anybody know? Cheers.

Ps was going to start my own thread with this but that seemed abit silly while this has got all your attention. Hope you dont mind?

I would say keep the shocks matched to the springs. MV6 rides lower but is more stiffly damped so bottoming out is not a problem. That stiffness could be down to spring rates, shock absorbers or both, but if you end up with a lower ride height and spongy suspension it won't be an improvement.

I wouldn't go to VX for springs they're just theft.  and auto factors don't make a distinction between MV6 and normal omega springs.

So on the pre-facelfts the MV6 shocks were stiffer damped, and slightly shorter, but running with the conventional springs.

On the facelifts - the MV6 shocks ran with specific MV6 springs.

But overall there was no difference in fitments as far as bolts or mounting furniture was concerned. yes?

FYI:

GM Part Number for MV6 Shocks as follows:
(damping characteristics different as these units were originally designed for heavy payload police vehicles/ ambulances/ arnoured bodies and hearses!)

72119086 Front Shock Absorbers

90512293 Rear Shock Absorbers

Price vs. normal shock absorbers is negligible.

The dealer designation of lowered sports chassis was given to the facelift MV6's lowered chassis charateristic.

i'm going to do the same thing, hence all the questions!

As far as springs go, i'm just going to use an auto factor like eurocarparts.

The VX ones are just theft, and I can't justify the prices of the performance lowered springs - but they're on par with VX!
