Title: Locked out now!
Post by: neddy on 27 September 2008, 13:55:12
After fiddling about with my still missfiring 2.2 packed up with work still to do and with bonnet up reconnected battery and locked car. Disconnected battery, closed bonnet oops... can't open the car now. The key in the lock doesn't open the door - any ideas please.
Cheers

Are you saying the key wont turn in the door lock.

Have you tried the boot lock.

Back to the door lock, if it wont turn then squirt some plusgas or similar penetrating oil into the lock and try and work it in.  There have been many posts on the mini facelifts with sticking locks and with a of plus gas and a firm turn of the key they reckon it should open.  Not sure on the facelift versions if it is the same.

Dont forget to try the boot lock though.

We had to crawl through the boot and manualy open the door on my T plate Elite when the battery went flat because of a tight door lock.

Hope this helps.   :y

Stick key in the lock. You`ll have to turn it very hard then you should here a click. Try opening door. Sometimes the door lock button doesn`t pop up. Remember the key needs to be turned very hard :)
