Title: the thrust washer Auto box
Post by: Omega Pixie on 27 September 2008, 16:59:27
Would someone help me with an answer to this question please.
I assume that as long as the damage to the pump face is within the I/D of the thrust washer I can just repace it.

                                                    many thanks
PS Also does anyone know the id?

What do you mean by I/D and id? Also is "repace"  replace or reface?

I can't tell you the actual internal diameter of the Sonnax thrust washer as i haven't one to hand . However the shims are very similar in size from memory. The internal diameter of those is 4.4 cm approx.

Sassanach's guide in the how to section suggests getting the pump face machined if it is damaged. Mine was in a fairly bad state with damage from the shaft right out and slightly past the outside diameter of the thrust washer. There is another component (the name of which I don't know ) that is the other side of the thrust washer and mine was also slightly damaged. If it would help pm me your Email address and I will send you a photo of each of my damaged pieces.

I think if you have gone to the trouble of taking the box off, taking apart then it is worth the extra effort. There will be some experts along soon with their twopenn'ath.
