Title: is this a sign of torque convertor failure
Post by: shanjon on 30 September 2008, 21:03:15
my mother in laws miggy keeps having problems , she keeps getting the automatic gearbox warning in the display and gearbox goes into limp home mode ,
i took it for a spin today and just before it gives warning it accelerates however it fails to change gear and goes into limp mode
if you switch the engine off it is fine again, i have checked the oil levels in the gearbox and they are fine, any ideas

never heard of a torque convertor failing, get the engine codes read, because an engine fault can cause the gearbox to go into limp mode

i reccomended oil and filter change to the father in law which he is going to do when funds allow,
i did a paperclip test and there are no error codes , im sure we will get to the bottom of it eventually , she is just worried it is gearbox failure

sorry forgot to mention a small fact,,, it may be irrelevant but it does not play up on motorway , it only does it when you have been slow moving in traffic
