only way to change chip is take to vauxhall dealer or someone with a proper tech2 and you will also need your carpass :y

Engine ECU is tied to immobiliser. Keys are tied to immobiliser. So engine ECU, Immobiliser ECU, and transponders in keys all need to be paired up with each other.
What was wrong with original immbiliser>

Transponder is in key. The immobiliser ecu (with its associated pickup) is in steering column.
Forget what the garage are telling you for now.
What are the symptoms?
-
car would not start but took out battery and charged it, put it back in and after a lot of cranking it started, then it ran perfect for three or four weeks and went out saturday and would not start orange light flashes after i crank it for a while, but the ecu in the steering column has a big crack in the box part of it.
just got it mot'd three weeks ago, bought it secondhand six weeks ago, great car dont wnt to scrap it. HELP

If the eml flashes, the engine ecu hasn't seen an acknowledgement from immobiliser.
How many keys do you have?
-
i only have the one, what about the cracked ecu on the steering should i replace that with the used one i sourced or what should i do

Hotel21 is in scotland,he has just acquired a tech 2. Its either him or vx dealer. :y
-
And the Vx dealer will want anything up to £100 for 1new key slightly less if you have one to programme but still silly money! ::)
