Title: Grinding/ grunching noise from o/s/s over bumps
Post by: tampon on 02 October 2008, 12:46:45
When I am in the car by myself and going over speedbumps nothing, lovely quality thump from the suspension no problems what so ever, but when there are people in the car or I go over the bump slightly faster with just me in the car it sounds like the wheel on the drivers side is catching on somethings ( sound like the exhaust or sump hitting the bump, which it definitely isn't as the noise is coming from the arch on the drivers side ).

I can stop the noise by driving a bit slower when by myself and going very slowly with people in the car.

Is this just the way it is or can I fix it, the suspension feels fine on all other fronts.

I have been reading alot about droplnks, could this be the problem ( please remember I have NO idea what droplinks do, but sounds like it should be fairly easy to do myself, any pics on here as to how to do it if it is the problem ? )

With knackered droplinks you get a continual knocking when driving over bumos or down a bumpy road.  This doesn't sound like droplinks.

That sounds exactly like what it could be, noticed when I washed it the other day that it was loose on one side, can I just take them off?
