Title: Headlamp 'cover' plastic replacement
Post by: kevpuk on 05 October 2008, 11:20:28
My Omega seems to have a slightly 'discoloured' passenger side headlamp cover......by this I mean the plastic that protects the bulbs etc. - is this replaceable individually or does one have to purchase a whole new headlapmp unit ?

Kinda hoping it is just a lens or something....

What year is it?   Has it gone 'yellow'?

if you take the headlamp unit out then there SHOULD be about 5 little metal clips around the unit holding on the lens cover, take those off then seperate the two bits (theres sealant between them)

Sounds reasonably straight-forward ?? Is this 'yellowing' a know issue/indicative of something ?

Other fixes for this include polishing it out. Or fitting a new set of projectors. They can be had for £45 each off ebay (+£10 postage)

Ebay clicky (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Omega-New-97-00-Headlight-Headlamp-Light-O-S_W0QQitemZ280251416144QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item280251416144&_trkparms=72%3A1345|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)

It is much more common on pre facelifts (pre 98).     The cheapest fix is to t-cut them or (carefully)  WET fine wet'n dry.

Ah well, at least nothing too serious then :) Mine is definitely latest (facelift) model, guess I'll have to crack out the T-cut or similar
