Title: Pre facelift leather upgrade
Post by: Big_Steve_v6 on 07 October 2008, 14:02:56
I have recently purchased a leather interior for my GLS Estate. The old drivers seat just had 2 wires for the motor. Now the new drivers seat has the memory function, and a silly amount of wires! Does anyone know how I can wire them up in order to get the seat adjustable? Then I can at least drive her again

you may not have the fully leccy loom in place, so i doubt you can easily get memory functions. Should not be too hard to wire it up so all the motors get power though.

Some one more electrical will be along soon...

2 wires you have will no doubt be red and brown??

The 2 thick red and brown wires will be all you need to get the seat to adjust...or connect the seats red and brown wires to positive and negative on a battery :) lol

Try connecting the red and brown wire from the seat to a spare battery, see if it works then...if it doesnt may be the seat motor is shot?

I did get my meter out and there was just over 13 volts at the wire running to the seat. so may be the seat motors

Seem to recall 3 browns (0v) and 2 reds (12v) needed.

Thanks all, just sorted it. For anyone who needs to know, its 2 red and 1 black to the red and 3 brown to the brown. Then all motors work as they should

That must be a well tried & tesed method. My 1979 Cavalier used the same clip.  :y

If you've got the seat powered up the memory should work too.  Of course only the seat - not the mirrors too.
