Title: Automatic Goes Neutral While Driving
Post by: capoMV6 on 10 October 2008, 00:49:51
Hi to all.  Please help me.
I observed that while driving especially on low gear or when I abruptly press on the gas pedal, it seems that the transmission goes into neutral.  If I am running on say 1500 rpm, the engine goes up to 3000 rpm as if I am revving on neutral.  To get back to normal operation I have to step on the brake and slow down. Car is an OMEGA MV6 3.0 1997 Engine is an X30XE.  Your comments, advise and recommendation will be really appreciated.  Cheers.

Gearbox oil level is the first thing to check. The engine needs to be running to check the fill/level plug on the gearbox - GM very thoughtfully left the dip stick off when they built the Omega.  :-?

As said, check auto fluid level, even better change fluid and if over 100k change the auto box filter as well.
