Gearbox oil change works wonders.

has it ever been serviced? every 60k....? vx say sealed for life so probably not...5 or 6 litres of atf dexron3 and gaskets for large and small box sump, clean magnet ,and filter if it looks in good nick or replace. fill sump to level hole run engine and select all gears keep filling until oil over flows through level, messy business, much easier on a lift, also a guide on topping up in maintenance section.99% of gear box problems are fixed with service / top up, any further issues post em up as there is a wealth of info and help on here, including friendly breakers with box's for very fair money so don't worry, see how you go :y

PS don't drive unecassarily until atf sorted as you could well burn out the box, they hate heat...

Will vary on the place, someone said theirs cost £220...cant see why it should really cost more than half of that though...or do it yourself, really not hard...

depends on hourly rate, it is not a difficult job, any local mech you trust should be able,( my mate took an hour at £50) provided you have/ can get parts from dealer if you have alternative transport? He should have dexron 3 atf but not likely the gaskits and filter if needed. although loctite 598 will do instead of gaskits, its up to you ateotd...

ps £120 should cover it, filter is about 70 from dealer but hopefully you wony need it and the parts man will let you take it back if not needed, there are cheaper ways to go about it but that takes time and a bit of planning, you probably need the car asap :-/
