i had a ticky tappet on my mv6 so stripped it down tonight to find one not holding up pressure,would anyone possibly have one lying in a box of spares,on an engine thats broke its timing belt or other such silly place,i' :)m willing to pay for it and postage to get it here if anyone has one

I assume you have the later anti-bleed down type......might be worth psoting a pic of the base to get the right sort.

I also have a tub full of cleaned and primed ones

the one i have in front of me looks empty apart from a little raised bit in the centre with the bit that sits on the valve in the middle of that,it different to 16v red top ones coz i thought i might get away with one of them

thanks for all your help guys,but i have a new tappet coming from the dealers tomorrow so will have the mv6 back on the road tomorrow night

tappet done an quiet now,but me thinks my air con pump gone,keeps coming up with code 87 when you switch air con on,damn. :(

Glad to hear you've sorted your lifter rattle!

I have exactly the same issue on my MV6 and i need to follow in your footsteps by the sound of it.  Did you have to lock up the timing belt and remove all four cam sprockets and cam shafts?

I s**t scared of doing such a big job  :-[

i have the kit for locking it all,i only had to take one side off coz it was the drivers side the noise was coming from,but still locked off both sets of cams,easy job once you done it once.cost me £21 for the new tappet from the dealer,inc vat

Code 87 could be fuse 29, or you could have a short on one of the engine bay relays. Could you have put one of the relays back in the wrong place?
