Title: rocker cover replacement????????
Post by: madbiker on 10 October 2008, 20:30:57
Iv just got my 2.5 omega back from the garage and was told that I need to replace both rocker covers b4 they can change the plugs as oil is going into the plug holes. Do these rockers not have gaskets that can be replaced if not can anyone tell me where i can get a pair of rockers from cheaper than the main dealer price of £87+ the dreaded?

thanks

As has been said - you need to make sure breathers are clear as this is cause of oil blowing out from rocker covers.

Should just be able to replace with genuine gaskets:http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152564281

available from the OOF shop if in stock http://shop.omegaowners.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=10
if not the part numbers are there for your convenience. :y

You may find the covers have been overtightened (only 14Nm?) to try and stop leaks and in which case they may be warped :-/

there is a myth that cam covers warp. Never seen that myself, so just change gaskets (with genuine ones) and fit correctly (which no garage appears to be able to do).

just change the gaskit and o rings. Cover bolts are 8nm. And not a penny more. :-)
The covers are 300 sobs from vx. Dont bother.
