I just found this wiring in my spare tyre well just next to the NSR light cluster in the boot. (2001 Elite Saloon)
What are they for? They aren't connected to anything.

The pink foam wrapped bit seems to have a very small resistor in it.

havent got them on mine m8 and my one is a 2000 estate could it be for parking sensors

I hope they're not for parking sensors. I've got them and they're working right now so it would seem odd.
My car has all the bells and whiltles so I'm confused. The only bit my car doesn't have is a tow-bar, so it could be that but there don't seem to be enough wires to cope with all the lights.

I have got the same wires on my 2001 Elite saloon and have often wondered what they are. Hope somebody will know.
Richard.

They look very like wires for the parking sensors. As far as I remember though from when I had my Elite, these were not connected to anything either.

Maybe this will clear it up. From what I can see, your unknown wires are 1,2 and 3 from the diagram below.

?? supply for caravan charging plug ??
?? trailer indicator/hazards buzzer ??
?? maybe produced new for a disabled person and is wheelchair charger ??

Looking at the wiring diagram the 3 wires are 1 and 2.
2 being currently disconnected for "loud", leaving 2 loos ends; a spade and corresponding female socket.
What is loud? Is this a volume restrictor circuit for the Bose stereo system or something?
As for the pink bit, what do you think it means for "Vehicle Version" and why is there a resistor in there?
-
Its the wiring for the tow bar,
The volume will be for the bleeper on the indicators, the pink plug is set the car type for the loom.

just been out to have a look. i have them too...the purple bit looks like a fuse , you can pull it out.... :-/

It is a resistor. I don't know what will happen if you pull it out. Do it and then post back to tell me. :y

Got the same in mine - I guess the volume setting is for the parking sensor bleeper volume.

They can be wired via the foglight cutout switch that should be fitted into the "correct" 13 pin towing socket. The fog light cut out is to turn off the CAR rear fogs whan a caravan/trailer is connected to reduce reflected glare. These connection use that "source" to turn off the parking sensors when a trailer is connected .....
Those that have a trailer and parking sensors NOT so wired will know why very well ..... whenever you select reverse you get a constant noise as the system think you are about to hit your trailer !!
