Title: AR35 Solenoids
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 12 October 2008, 22:16:53
Hi Guys

Does anyone know where I can find a good supplier for AR35 soleniods? How many are there in total - 6? Are they all the same part?

Cheers
James

hi james, ive got an old AR25 past saving which has got the solenoids still in it, i can see 2 small ones at the bottom front, they have different coloured bodies if my memory serves me, so if you find they are the same you are welcome as i was going to give it to the rag & bone man [yup we still get them ;)], also if you find out where they are situated & how they come out it would be a bonus :D, failing that if you want new try jpat as they said to me they do everything for the auto boxes.

cheaper to replace the box as they are approx £50 each and there are five of them!! one to apply the band, one to control oil pressure, one to apply top gear lockup, and two to change gear ie 1-2 solenoid and 2-3 solenoid.

Sassanach/Tim,

Thanks for that. You'll remember replacing the box with me once -don't fancy doing it again ;D

The only issue I'm having is a rough upshift when giving it some beans. Which solenoid do you think would be responsible for this? (seeing as the thrust washers / gearbox internals seemed ok?)

:y

Tim - in a word, yes please mate :y

Edit - I'll have the sumps too, if you have no use for them ;)

hi james, if i can find where these solenoids hide i`ll get them out, [anyone??]unless you can find a way of picking the whole thing up & have the lot!!!,as for the sumps im affraid im in the process of fitting them with drain plugs as itll make servicing easier, but as JEZ says perhaps changing the box would be easier ;)

Remove the sumps and its obvious where they are.....seem to recall they are secured in by roll pins and nothing more.
