I am buying some audio books for a trip down to south of france in a few weeks, some of the cds are in mp3 format, just wondered if they would play on the standard CDX cd player ( front loading 4 multi disk )
-
Nope. Best bet use cassette slot - jack plug adaptor, transfer mp3s to a player and play through headphone output. Not perfect but it works.

Yep,
No standard headunit fitted to ANY Omega will ever play MP3's
Some will play CD-RW's but never MP3s

They may play CD's made using MP3's (but in audio mode)
They wont, or if they do it will be a first, play native mp3's
iirc None of the old vauxhalls like cdr's though, and using them will likely shorten the unit's life.

I bought one of those adapter thingys that you can plug your Ipod into and play through your radio (£10ish), works very well :y
