maybe one of the friendly breakers on here might help? If they get the keys with the car that is. There is a guide in maintenance section for removing the ignition barrell, and one for the drivers side central locking motor which will help with the door lock. You will need tech 2 and proof of ownership to programme the keys.
By the way, what "cheap"barrell fits an omega?

If you just change the barrel then you just need the key to go with that barrel...but then you have 2 keys one for the door one for the ignition...can send you an ignition barrel with key no problem...
On a 95 Omega you have a seperate immobiliser...and a passengers side door lock...
If you wanted a full lock set to match then you would need all the locks, the ignition barrel the immobiliser unit and the ECU...if its a matching spec and so on then it would just go straight in without tech2
You could get an ignition barrel made up to match your key...get the car pass and it will have the details required for Vaux (or cheaper sources) to do that...

Its a after market one whcih at the moment hangs down from where the ignaition should be, looks horrible and needs to be changed

SO the aftermarket one you have isnt actually in the hole for the ignition?? Just wired in and hanging down?
Easiest way is to just put a replacement barrel in...got one here no problem...as said you will have a seperate key for ignition and door...really up to you but by far the cheapest option...

Hi Mate
this sounds like the best plan, how much is the barrell
Cheers

A proper ignition barrel from Vauxhall cost about 70 quid. It comes with a dummy key. All they need is your VIN number but may well ask you for proof of ownership. They should have it next day.

Take all the shroud from the top of the steering column/under the steering wheel & have a look to see what's there. You must have a chip stuck somewhere for the imobiliser to 'talk' to. :-?
There should be a 'hole' for you to just slot your 'new' barrel & key into. I suspect that,as your steering lock isn't doing anything that all the steering lock mechanism is in the seeler's wheelie bin. :-?

Ok Taken off the cover and found this

What's it like at the top of the column? The round bit that you're holding should plug into the back of the ignition switch that sits on the column. Your looking for a tube towards the top of the column that your barrel complete with key will slide into.

the switch bit will be easy, there's plenty of cars being broken here. Of more concern, is what it'll fasten too, considering your steering lock appears to be non existant.

It might be easier to fit a complete column. Is yours fixed ie your wheel doesn't tip? I'm sure that you could swap tp the later type. :y

It dosnt tip at the mo will have to keep a eye out for a colum from somewhere
thanks for your help
