Title: 2.5TD CDX - Horn. Help Please. SORTED THANKS
Post by: Malabo on 23 October 2008, 17:47:11
Hi,

just been and had an MOT, failed on a couple of minors which I've got to sort out before tomorrow afternoon.

It's raining now and getting dark here, so just asking for some pointers.

Checked everything I could before MOT bar the horn. In ignition key positions 1 & 2 pressing both buttons, I can here a relay clicking but no horn.

I am going out now to investigate, but don't even know location of horn as I've not long had car. Is there a fuse after relay? Fuse locations? Any pointers greatly appreciated.

TIA Malcolm

Just located horn in front of n/s front wheel, and connecting meter appear to be getting 12v when pressing button, so looks like horn itself is duff. Tried tapping it but still no joy. Will have to get it off

After confirming 12v to horn, reconnected, got daughter to press horn button whilst wacking with Leyland tool - jobs a gud un. Must just have been crud on conacts in horn. It's been off the road for > 12 months - use it or loose it!

Andy, whilst you're on, thanks for the tip re brake sensor continuity. I looked at fitting new brake sensors this morning but it's a single pad on plate so no room for sensor. Unplugged connectors and put a fine wire into both holes and reconnected plug - no brake pad warning. Thanks
